ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A laborer was killed and another was injured when a portion of a cliff in Lakewood, Zamboanga del Sur collapsed Tuesday afternoon, police said yesterday.
Gaspar Tubac, 31, and Nelvin Lantig were residents of Barangay San Roque in Dimataling town, Police Inspector Dahlan Samuddin, public affairs chief of Police Regional Office 9, said.
The victims were quarrying on the slope of Purok 3 in Barangay Biswagan when the cliff above them collapsed and buried them at 1:20 p.m.
Tubac died at the scene while Lantig was brought to a nearby hospital.
