MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude-4.7 earthquake jolted parts of the Bicol region yesterday, but no injury or damage to property was reported, state seismologists said.
The quake, which occurred at 6:53 a.m., was located 46 kilometers northeast of Legaspi City in Albay, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
It was felt at Intensity 4 in Legaspi City, Daraga, Guinobatan, Camalig, all in Albay, and in Sorsogon City.
The quake was also felt at Intensity 3 in San Jose town in Camarines Sur and Intensity 2 in Virac, Catanduanes.
It was tectonic in origin, Phivolcs said.
Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum said no aftershocks were expected from the quake.
Meanwhile, another magnitude-4.7 tremor struck the provinces of Sarangani and Davao Occidental shortly after midnight yesterday.
Phovolcs said the tremor, which occurred at 12:38 a.m., was not felt.
