CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A former police official was shot dead in Rosario, Batangas Saturday afternoon.
Retired Superintendent Ruperto Hupida died at the scene due to several gunshot wounds, said Inspector Hazzel Luma-ang, spokesperson for the Batangas police office.
Hupida, a former police chief of Rosario and Ibaan towns, was at the Centro barbershop in Barangay Sta. Cruz when a lone assailant shot him at close range at around 4:30 p.m.
The assailant fled on a motorcycle toward the town proper.
Investigators recovered five bullet shells and three slugs for a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene. They have yet to identify the killer and determine the motive for the killing.
Hupida retired from the service in 2011.
