Lights on in remote Abra town

Artemio Dumlao - The Philippine Star

BANGUED, Philippines – Electricity has finally arrived in Tineg town in Abra.

The Abra Electric Cooperative has energized Sitio Vira in Barangay Alaoa last Thursday, said Abreco general manager Loreto Seares Jr.

Mayor Corinthia Dannang-Crisologo, Abra Rep. Jocelyn Bernos and Gov. Eustaquio Bersamin led the ceremonial switch-on.

Tineg is 65 kilometers away from this capital town. More than half of its land area is forest.

Seares said Abreco is committed to fulfill its obligation to reach out to the farthest villages to spur economic activity and “empower” the people.
