2 soldiers slain in Kalinga ambush

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Two Army soldiers were killed while three others were wounded in an ambush by suspected New People’s Army (NPA) guerrillas in Pinukpuk town, Kalinga yesterday morning.

The names of the fatalities have been withheld until after their families are notified.

The wounded soldiers were brought to the Pinukpuk District Hospital for treatment.

Reports reaching Pinukpuk police chief Senior Inspector Francisco Ben said the soldiers belonging to the Army’s 50th Infantry Battalion were on their way to Barangay Limos when they were attacked at around 8 a.m.
