5 kids die in Bukidnon fire

Gerry Lee Gorit - The Philippine Star

CABANGLASAN, Bukidnon, Philippines  – Five children died in a fire that razed their home here Sunday night.

The children – aged two, three, five, 10 and 11 – were sleeping when the fire broke out at past 7 p.m. in Barangay Capinonan, said Inspector Jiselle Ester Lou Longakit, spokesperson for the Bukidnon provincial police office.

Longakit said the children’s parents Anabel and Richie Lingoyan were reportedly attending a party in a nearby village.

The couple reportedly left the children under the care of their 12-year-old son.

However, the boy reportedly went looking for their parents when they failed to come home by 7 p.m.

The Lingoyans were horrified to find their house, which was made of light materials, razed to the ground.

Firefighters brought the children’s remains to the barangay hall.
