Enzo's parents urge Dalia to surrender

Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The parents of murdered race car driver Enzo Pastor on Thursday expressed gratitude for the resolution of the Department of Justice (DOJ) finding probable cause for parricide against the racer's wife Dalia and for murder against businessman Sandy de Guzman.

“We applaud the efforts of the DOJ in its pursuit of justice against the murderers of Ferdinand "Enzo" Pastor. Let us continue to be vigilant that as the warrants of arrest are issued for Dalia Guerrero-Pastor and Sandy de Guzman and the case enters our court system, that justice will be fair, swift and unrelenting. The Pastor family puts its trust in our authorities and the Philippine legal system to ensure that justice will prevail,” said spouses Tomas and Remedios Pastor in a text message.

The couple is also hopeful that the two suspects will be arrested soon.

"We hope and pray that Dalia and Sandy are arrested immediately. We look forward to seeing them behind bars," they added.

The Pastor couple also called on Dalia to surrender and face justice for the sake of her children - boys with ages nine and six years.

“We appeal to Enzo’s wife, Dalia Pastor, to surface and face justice in our courts, for the sake of Enzo, for the sake of our family, and for the sake of their children,” the Pastor couple said.

The Department of Justice on Thursday recommended criminal charges against businessman Sandy de Guzman and Dahlia Pastor, the wife of slain international racing champ Enzo Pastor.

Prosecutor General Claro Arellano, chief of the National Prosecution Service, said the DOJ recommended charges of parricide against Dalia and murder against De Guzman.

Arellano said the charges will be filed with the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.

Enzo was gunned down on June 12, 2014 in Quezon City. At the time of the incident, Enzo was on his way to Clark in Pampanga and was coming from Batangas.

In August last year, the DOJ filed before the local court a murder case against PO2 Edgar Angel, the self-confessed gunman.

The parents of the murdered racer earlier filed a motion before a Makati court for provisional joint custody of the racer’s two minor children.

In their motion dated Nov. 14, 2014 filed with the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 136, spouses Tomas Pastor and Remedios Pastor have asked the court to issue a provisional order of joint custody over Enzo’s two children – both boys.

In their motion, the spouses have asked the court for joint custody of the children. In their motion, Tomas and Remedios asked that alternately every two weeks, the children stay in their custody from Monday after school to Thursday afternoon.

After classes on Thursdays, the Pastor spouses ask that the children be fetched from school by the parents of Enzo’s widow Dalia and keep them under their care until Monday morning.

The Pastor spouses also ask the court that both they and Dalia’s parents - Xavier Guerrero and Valerie Guerrero nee Oosthuizen – exercise joint custody over the minor children alternately during school vacations for a duration of two weeks at a time.
