2 die in Ecija mishaps

CABANATUAN CITY, Philippines – Two persons died while another was injured in separate vehicular accidents in the towns of Guimba and San Isidro in Nueva Ecija over the weekend, police reported yesterday.

Jeffrey Cacaban, 25, and Marlon Lacanilao, 33, died from severe head injuries after they were thrown from their motorcycle while Gary Biernes, 36, was taken to the Guimba General Hospital for treatment, said Senior Superintendent Crizaldo Nieves, provincial police director.

Cacaban and Biernes were traveling along the Guimba-Talugtog Road in Barangay Balbalino when their motorcycle slammed into a plant box at around 6:45 p.m., said Guimba police chief Superintendent Bernie Orig.

Meanwhile, Lacanilao died after his motorcycle hit a tree in Barangay Calaba, San Isidro, said Chief Inspector Caezar Manucdoc, town police chief.
