Lanao vice mayor commits suicide
ILIGAN CITY, Philippines – The provincial government of Lanao del Norte yesterday confirmed the death of the vice mayor of Maigo town.
Vice Mayor Elmer Ramos was found dead with a gunshot wound in the head in the master’s bedroom of their house last Friday.
Initial investigation showed Ramos, his wife and their helper were watching television in the living room downstairs when he stood up and went upstairs at around 3:30 p.m.
Fifteen minutes later, a gunshot rang out, prompting the wife and the helper to run upstairs.
The two found the door of the master’s bedroom locked, prompting them to ask for help.
They found Ramos on the bed with a bullet wound in the left temple and a caliber .45 pistol near him.
Although all indications point to Ramos having committed suicide, the local police will continue the investigation to determine if there was foul play involved.
