MANILA, Philippines — More than 200 pieces of bombs were unearthed in a construction site in Bayambang town in the province of Pangasinan.
Police said in a Bombo Radyo interview on Friday the bombs, which may still detonate, were found in what will be the site of a new police headquarters in the town.
Authorities said the vintage bombs may date back to the Japanese occupation during World War II in the 1940s.
The pieces were brought to the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office for defusing.
