MANILA, Philippines - Several voters in Bulacan have sought the relief of an official of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for alleged inaction on the recall petition they filed against Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado.
Election supervisor Elmo Duque has defied a resolution issued by the Comelec main office in Manila on Jan. 30 to verify the signatures in the petition and determine if the number was sufficient to warrant a recall election, the group said.
“Instead of implementing the Comelec resolution, Duque even questioned it… He has to be replaced for our petition to move forward,” Perlita Mendoza, the leader of the group, told a press conference in Manila on Tuesday.
