DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Davao del Norte Gov. Rodolfo del Rosario on Monday reiterated his call for the transfer of the Davao International Airport (DIA) to accommodate huge aircraft.
Del Rosario stressed the need for an alternative to the 217-hectare DIA to ease air traffic in Mindanao.
He is eyeing areas in the nearby cities of Panabo and Samal in Davao del Norte and in Davao del Sur where a new airport can be constructed.
Del Rosario said the national government earlier approved a P40-billion budget for the improvement of the airport.
He urged the city government to start looking for an area where the new airport would be built.
