Vizcaya mishap leaves 3 dead
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya , Philippines – Three persons died when their motorcycle collided with a truck in Aritao town here on Friday.
Romar Gapasin, 20; Jaycer Bucad, 20, and Mark Erwin Gabot, 21, died at the scene, said Senior Superintendent John Lug-lug, police provincial director.
Reports said the victims were traveling in Barangay Darapidap when their motorcycle slammed into an Isuzu truck (PSA-793) driven by Webster Castro, 35. Police said the three tried to overtake a tricycle.
Castro was held by the Aritao police.
Meanwhile, a village councilman also died while three watchmen were injured when they were hit by a rock that rolled down a mountain in Atok town, Benguet Thursday.
Sandy Bay-an Etiw was declared dead on arrival at a hospital while his companions Ramon Colting, Sotero Binay-an and Joel Pablo were treated in separate hospitals.
The victims were conducting a clearing operation along a highway in Barangay Paoay when the rock rolled down and hit them. – With Raymund Catindig
