2 buried alive in landslide

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Two persons were buried alive in a landslide that hit a village in Roxas town, Zamboanga del Norte Monday.

Rudy Tagad, 57, and Nelly Joy del Pilar, 9, were walking in Barangay Panampalay when a pile of rocks and soil collapsed and covered them at around 10 a.m., said Inspector Dahlan Samuddin, spokesman for Police Regional Office 9.

Samuddin said rescue personnel from the municipal disaster risk reduction and management council and local police recovered Tagad’s body. Del Pilar has yet to be found.
