MANILA, Philippines - A P3.7-million post-harvest facility was recently turned over by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to a farming cooperative in Agusan del Norte.
DAR Caraga regional director Faisar Mambuay said the beneficiaries were members of the Libas Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (LFMPC) in Barangay Libas in Jabonga town.
Aside from the facility, Mambuay said Jabonga, for many years, has been a beneficiary of several development projects such as farm-to-market roads, irrigation system and agri-enterprise projects.
LFMPC chairman Elson Morada said the facility is composed of five rooms, a restroom, an office complete with furniture and lighting and water systems suitable for their proposed virgin coconut oil processing plant.
Mayor Jasmin Monton thanked the DAR for helping the cooperative and all the farmers in Jabonga.
The project is funded by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and the municipal government of Jabonga.
