2 dead, 1 hurt in Iloilo road mishap

MANILA, Philippines - Two persons were killed while another was injured when a motorcycle collided with a truck in Concepcion, Iloilo on Thursday.

Jose de los Santos, 53, the driver of the motorcycle, died from head injuries at around 1:30 a.m. yesterday while his companion, Efren Tejada, 61, was declared dead on arrival at the Western Visayas Medical Center, according to investigator Police Officer 3 Edzel Ray Cacia of the Concepcion police.

Another motorcycle rider, Lito Herrera, 56, was injured.

Cacia said the motorcycle collided with a truck loaded with sand and gravel on the opposite lane.

Truck driver Erjun Asturias, 34, a resident of Barangay Bagacay in San Dionisio town, has been detained in connection with the accident.
