Artemio Dumlao - The Philippine Star

TABUK City, Kalinga, Philippines  – The provincial government is hoping to get its first Guinness World Record for the longest gong dance as it marks its 20th anniversary next month.

With the theme “Kalinga at 20: A Legacy of Peace and Unity,” the Ullalim Festival will be highlighted by the “Awong Chi Gangsa” or “Sound of a Thousand Gongs.”

The committee plans to double the number of participants to 2,000 or more, with the schools, 15 municipalities and this city joining the festival.

It said officials of the Guinness Book of World Records have committed to send representatives to document the event.

Among the highlights of the festival, which starts from Feb. 14 to 18, are trade and industrial fairs, bike race, agro-tourism fair, and water rafting.
