Davao del Sur police chief sacked

The Philippine Star

DAVAO CITY – The town police chief of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur has been relieved from her post following a grenade explosion in the police station on Thursday that killed two persons and wounded four others.

Senior Inspector Grace de Castro was sacked by Southern Mindanao regional police office director Chief Superintendent Wendy Rosario.

Rosario also ordered an investigation into the blast, noting that the arresting officer did not thoroughly frisk a suspect  before he was detained. “I want a deeper probe into the case,” she said.

Salang, who was detained for carrying four grenades and a .45 caliber pistol, shouted that he had another hand grenade. When David Bacon, a retired police officer, asked for the grenade, it exploded, killing both of them.
