MANILA, Philippines - Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested two suspected pimps during an operation in Quezon City Wednesday night, rescuing eight minors.
Both Evelyn Tañega and James Mercado are now facing violations for anti-human trafficking law.
Initial reports said that NBI operatives posed as customers and were able to transact with the suspects for the services of the minors.
After handing over the money to the suspects, other NBI agents swooped down and arrested the two.
Reports said some of the minors were rescued from a hotel.
The minors are now in the temporary custody of the NBI.
