BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels burned construction equipment of a Korean-owned firm in Barangay Mabini in Surigao City on Tuesday.
An estimated 30 NPA rebels torched two backhoes, a dump truck, a pay loader and a generator set, the Army’s 4th Infantry Division spokesman Major Christian Uy told The STAR.
In a report, Uy said Pablo Logatiman, alias Ka Lucas of the Northeastern Mindanao regional committee, led the rebels.
He said members of the Army’s 30th Infantry Battalion have launched pursuit operations against the rebels.
