Magnitude 5.2 quake jolts parts of Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude 5.2 earthquake shook parts of Mindanao yesterday but there was no report of damage or injury, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 1:20 p.m. with its epicenter traced at 29 kilometers northeast of Sarangani, Davao Occidental.

The quake was felt at Intensity 4 in General Santos City and Don Marcelino in Davao Occidental; and Intensity 3 in the cities of Davao and Digos in  Davao del Sur; Alabel and Kiamba towns in Sarangani; and Tagum, Davao del Norte.

The tremor was felt at Intensity 2 in Kidapawan City.

Meanwhile, a magnitude 5.5 quake hit Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat at 4:33 a.m. yesterday.

Phivolcs warned the public of possible aftershocks from the tremors.
