MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police on Wednesday reminded the public that the nationwide gun ban will be imposed starting tomorrow, Jan. 22, in connection with the upcoming Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
During the 45-day gun ban, the PNP said that the Permit to Carry Firearms Outside Residence (PTCFOR) will be temporarily suspended.
The gun ban will be enforced 30 days before the election and 15 days after the polls, the PNP added.
The SK elections will be held on February 21.
Among those exempted from the gun ban are soldiers and uniformed policemen who are on duty.
Civilians who wish to get exempted from the gun ban would have to apply for one before the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
