MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude-5.6 earthquake rocked parts of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao yesterday but no damage or injury was reported, state seismologists said.
Meanwhile, another magnitude-5 quake also struck southeast of Governor Generoso town in Davao Oriental at 11:02 a.m.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the first quake occurred at 1:19 a.m. with its epicenter located 16 kilometers southwest of Simunul, Tawi-Tawi.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4 in Simunul, Bongao and Panglima Sugala, all in Tawi-tawi, and in Siasi, Sulu and Intensity 3 in Languyan, Tawi-Tawi and Maimbung, Sulu.
Phivolcs said aftershocks were expected from the tremors.
