Light rains, winds expected in Metro Manila, Leyte during Pope visit

MANILA, Philippines - Light rains and winds may be experienced in Metro Manila and Tacloban City throughout the duration of Pope Francis's stay in the country.

According to a special weather outlook issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), generally good weather is expected in Metro Manila from January 13 to 17, with northeasterly winds and passing light rains.

A possible tropical cyclone may bring light to heavy rains and moderate to strong winds in Metro Manila from January 18 to 19.

Meanwhile, Tacloban may be cloudy with light rains and light to moderate winds on January 15.

The aforementioned tropical cyclone will cause light to moderate rainshowers and moderate to strong winds from January 16 to 18.

Thunderstorms are expected in Tacloban on the said dates while the surrounding seas will be rough to very rough, according to PAGASA.

The area will have generally good weather with moderate winds by January 19.
