Bus shooting leaves 1 dead

BATANGAS, Philippines – A man was killed while another was wounded in a shooting in a passenger bus in Batangas City Thursday.

The victims were identified as Gonzalo Francisco, 41, of  Talavera, Nueva Ecija; and Alla Dinglasan, 39, of Barangay San Isidro, Batangas City, according to Senior Superintendent Omega Jireh Fidel, Batangas police director.

The victims were in an ALPS bus driven by Allan Salvador when an unidentified man shot Francisco as the vehicle reached the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road tollway in Barangay Tingga Itaas at around 10:51 a.m.

Francisco died at the scene while a stray bullet hit Dinglasan.

Witnesses said the assailant poked a gun at the driver and ordered him to open the door in order to escape.

Investigators have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
