MANILA, Philippines - Dairy producers in Albay should improve the quality of their products in order to earn more, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) said yesterday.
The DAR picked members of the Albay Dairy Cooperative (ADC) to develop their products under the agency’s Up-Valuing of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Product project.
Senior agrarian reform program officer Celso Olitin said the project is being coordinated with the National Dairy Authority (NDA), the Department of Trade and Industry and the provincial government.
Olitin said these agencies would provide ADC members with necessary trainings and knowledge on production, processing, and marketing of their fresh milk products.
Aside from product development, the project will teach the cooperative’s members label designing and branding.
“With the increasing demand for milk products here, this project will help our farmers improve their products and increase their income,” said Olitin.
Emmeline dela Cruz of NDA said product availability and delivery in areas accessible to consumers would help ADC sustain its business.
