MANILA, Philippines – Two village councilors were killed in separate attacks by motorcycle-riding men in Pangasinan and Isabela Monday.
Dionisio Viray of Mangatarem town in Pangasinan was declared dead on arrival at the Velasquez Clinic due to a gunshot wound in the neck.
Viray, a councilor of Barangay Punta, was walking home when he was shot.
Investigators have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
Meanwhile, George Apostol, a councilor of Barangay Ambatali in Ramon town, Isabela was walking with his friends toward an eatery in Barangay Patul when he was shot.
Apostol may have been killed over a grudge, city police director Senior Superintendent Alexander Santos said.
