Four hurt in Iloilo truck mishap

Jennifer P. Rendon - The Philippine Star

ILOILO, Philippines – A dump truck loaded with 300 sacks of cement turned upside down Saturday afternoon in San Rafael town, injuring the driver and four passengers.

Police identified the injured as Rodolfo Navales, 62, of Barotac Nuevo; Alexis John Maligon, 22, and Efren Ventura, 36, both of Don Lutero street in Janiuay; Timothy Maderse, 44, of Quipot street, Janiuay; and Razel Arsaga, 36, of South Fundidor, Molo town.

Police said the accident happened when the Isuzu truck with license plates UJG-696 was navigating the mountainous portion of Sitio Liktinon in Barangay Aripdip.

“The driver lost control of the vehicle because of its heavy load,” said San Rafael police chief Inspector Danilo de los Santos.

The truck rolled over about five times and ended up some 20 feet from where the driver lost control.
