Reward up for arrest of N. Cotabato bombers

John Unson - The Philippine Star

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines – A P200,000 reward was offered for the arrest of the culprits in Wednesday’s market bombing in Mlang, North Cotabato that killed two persons and wounded 33 others.

Mlang Mayor Joselito Piñol, chairman of the municipal peace and order council, and North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza contributed P100,000 each for the bounty.

Piñol and Mendoza are optimistic the reward money would hasten the arrest of the culprits.

Piñol has blamed the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) for the attack, the second in five weeks.

Two persons were killed and more than 20 others were wounded when an improvised explosive device was set off near a billiard hall on Nov. 23.

Senior Superintendent Danny Peralta, North Cotabato police director, said Wednesday’s bombing could have been pulled off by the cohorts of Adziz Glang, a suspected member of the BIFF, who was arrested in connection with the bombing in November.
