MANILA, Philippines - Tension gripped residents of a village in Maguindanao province after an improvised explosive device went off on the roadside in the area Monday morning.
No one was reported hurt during the explosion.
Quoting the military, a radio report said the blast happened around 8:15 a.m. at Sitio Bagong Barangay Timbangan, Shariff Aguak town.
Authorities have yet to determine the type of bomb exploded in the area as members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team of the Philippine Army did not recover any shrapnel.
Separatist group Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters denied having to do with the latest bombing in the province.
