MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested four individuals and confiscated more than 400 banned firecrackers in line with its Oplan Ligtas Paskuhan.
The PNP said that it also recorded 17 incidents, including firecracker and indiscriminate discharge of firearms cases from December 16 up to December 25, Christmas Day.
Four others were also reported injured due to firecracker blasts in Regions 1, 4, 7 and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, the PNP said.
In the National Capital Region, the PNP monitored two indiscriminate firing and one wounded due to a stray bullet.
Meanwhile, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will continue to be in full alert status up to the visit of Pope Francis to the country in January next year.
The NCRPO placed all of its units in full alert status since Dec. 22 in line with the holiday celebration.
