Toll-free holidays in S. Luzon
MANILA, Philippines - Diversified conglomerate San Miguel Corp. (SMC) will offer toll-free passage on major toll roads in Luzon on Christmas and New Year.
SMC through Skyway Operations and Maintenance Corp., Manila Toll Expressway Systems Inc. and Star Tollway Corp. made the announcement on Thursday.
Ado Diaz, head of the South Tollway collection group, said toll-free passage would start at 10 p.m. on Dec. 24 until 6 a.m. on Dec. 25 and from 10 p.m. on Dec. 31 to 6 a.m. on Jan. 1.
“The toll-free eves of Christmas and New Year has been a tradition followed on the Skyway System, (South Luzon Expressway or SLEX) and Star Tollway for many years as our way of sharing holiday cheers and expressing our gratitude to our motoring patrons,” Diaz said.
To ease queuing at toll plazas, Diaz said exact toll lanes would be opened at Skyway System and SLEX effective Dec. 15.
Toll operators would also deploy more ambulant tellers to ease traffic through the tollgates during the holidays.
Diaz said motorists could also pay toll at payment kiosks in select Petron and other service stations along SLEX.
