MANILA, Philippines - A suspected robber was killed after he reportedly shot it out with police officers out to arrest him for allegedly stealing a motorcycle in Taytay, Rizal yesterday.
Provincial police director Senior Superintendent Bernabe Balba said the suspect died at the scene from several gunshot wounds.
Balba said they have yet to identify the suspect, who was found with a caliber .38 revolver and a motorcycle owned by a teenager.
Town police chief Superintendent Elpidio Ramirez said the victim and his friends were driving near the Sumulong High School in Barangay San Isidro when the suspect took the motorcycle at gunpoint and fled.
Barangay watchmen alerted the police, who spotted the suspect at the corner of Manila East Road and Velasquez street.
The suspect reportedly shot at the police officers, triggering a shootout.
