MANILA, Philippines - Anti-narcotics agents arrested an elderly Japanese man during a sting operation in La Union, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Wednesday.
PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspect as Tomoaki Ishii, 60, of Apartment 5 Oceana Apartment, Barangay Carlatan, San Fernando, La Union.
Belated reports showed that last November 28, before midnight, operatives of PDEA Regional Office 1 in collaboration with a team from San Fernando City Police Station arrested Ishii after he sold two sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, to a poseur-buyer in his neighborhood in Barangay Carlatan.
During the operation, Ishii also yielded a rolled aluminum foil and 10 foil strips.
Ishii will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of the Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
