Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA City, Philippines - A fisherman was injured after the dynamite that his son was playing with exploded in a fishing village in Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay on Sunday morning.

Senior Inspector Dahlan Samuddin, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office 9, identified the injured fisherman as Hajirin Jainal, 43, of Barangay Kalintana.

Samuddin said Jainal had just returned home from a fishing venture when he saw his son lighting a dynamite.

The fisherman hurriedly grabbed the dynamite from his son, but the explosive went off before he was able to throw it away.

Jainal's hand was badly injured. He also sustained blast wounds in different parts of his body.
