SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Philippines – A Japanese man and his Filipina wife were arrested in two separate anti-illegal drug operations here Friday night.
Tomoaki Ishii, 60, of Barangay Carlatan, was nabbed in a sting conducted by the city police while his wife Joy, 33 was caught in a pot session in Poro Point, said Superintendent Julius Suriben, city police chief.
Seized from Tomoaki was a plastic sachet said to contain shabu and P1,000 marked money while Joy reportedly yielded an undetermined amount of shabu and drug paraphernalia.
Suriben said Joy had just been discharged from a drug rehabilitation center.
On the same day, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents and members of the city police arrested another drug suspect, Eduardo Mamaril, for allegedly selling shabu to an undercover agent.
Seized from Mamaril were 11 large plastic sachets said to contain the drugs, a mobile phone and a Starex van.
In Bulacan, PDEA agents arrested six suspected drug traffickers during a raid in Meycauayan, Friday.
Cabugatan Gasa, 52; Jamel Tunday, 23; Ibrahim Parok, 27; Raymond Tingco, 27; Melvin Sabus, 27, and Jalila Tunday, 31, were arrested at their homes in Northville 3, Barangay Bayugo, said PDEA 3 director Jeoffrey Tacio.
Seized from the suspects were 15 grams of shabu, 10 grams of marijuana, a weighing scale and drug paraphernalia, Tacio said.
