Barangay kagawad falls in shabu buy-bust

MANILA, Philippines - Anti-narcotics agents nabbed an incumbent barangay kagawad during an entrapment operation in Davao del Norte, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Wednesday.

PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspect as Jojo Bitte, 42, councilman in Barangay Guadalupe, Carmen, Davao del Norte.

Belated reports showed that operatives of the PDEA Regional Office 11, Davao del Norte Provincial Public Safety Company and Carmen Municipal Police Station collared Bitte in a buy-bust operation in Purok 1-A, Barangay San Isidro, Carmen town last November 21 around 2 p.m.

Bitte yielded a plastic sachet of suspected shabu which he handed to a PDEA undercover agent.

Also confiscated from Bitte were two plastic sachets of suspected shabu, a motorcycle, a mobile phone and marked money used during the operation.

Bitte, temporarily detained at Davao City Police Office detention facility, is now facing illegal drugs charges.
