Suspect in slay of woman, son arrested
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines – A suspect in the murder of a woman and her son in San Simon, Pampanga was arrested hours after the killing last Friday.
Mark Pangan, 28, was identified by witnesses as the man they saw coming out of the house of Jovita Salon, 32, and her son Carl at around 5:30 a.m., Pampanga police director Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Recomono Jr. said.
The witnesses said they saw Pangan carrying a lady’s bag and wiping his arms.
Recomono said the attack occurred at the victims’ house in Barangay San Miguel at around 4 a. m.. The suspect reportedly stabbed and bludgeoned the victims.
Jovita died at the scene while her son was declared dead on arrival at the Avscom Memorial Hospital in Apalit.
Recomono said Pangan was arrested at his house at around 2 p.m., or eight hours after the killing.
