MANILA, Philippines - A Pampanga congressman is eyeing the construction of an access road to Clark International Airport to speed up its development as one of the country’s two premier gateways.
In Resolution 1644, Rep. Joseller Guiao said the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) should plan, design and build a road from the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) to Clark that bypasses the narrow roads of Angeles City and Mabalacat town.
“One problem often cited as a reason why potential clients do not consider Clark Airport is the distance, exacerbated by the lack of direct access to the airport from NLEX,” he said.
“In anticipation of the influx of visitors and to show that government is really serious in marketing Clark as another premier gateway, it must provide the needed support infrastructure to make the airport and the Freeport zone more attractive to visitors, especially given government’s go signal for the Clark Green City project and the ever increasing economic activity with the Clark Special Economic Zone,” he added.
