Girl, 4, dies in Kalinga road mishap

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A four-year-old girl was killed when she was hit by a speeding jeepney along the Kalinga-Mt. Province National road in Barangay Bado Dangwa in Tabuk City, Kalinga Thursday morning.

Six persons were also injured when the jeepney (AYC-874) driven by Butch Batac turned over after hitting the girl.

Superintendent Francisco Bulwayan, city police chief, said Batac lost control of the wheel when he swerved right after Jolina Domingo suddenly crossed the road.

Domingo died while being treated at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital, where the injured jeepney passengers – Remelyn Asboc, 29; Marissa Balangui, 45; Sandy Taguiam, 38; Raniel Taguiam, nine; Gigi Gilfilan,  46; and Lord Elgin Gilfilan, 6 – were also treated.
