Pablo survivors in Davao Oriental, ComVal to get new homes

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – At least 2,726 families who are victims of Typhoon Pablo in Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley will get new homes. 

The houses, built under the Modified Shelter Assistance Program (MSAP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, will be turned over to their new owners by officials led by DSWD Secretary Corazon Soliman in simple ceremonies to be held in Baganga, Cateel and Boston towns today.

Pablo left over 1,000 people dead and more than 500 others missing. 

The DSWD aims to cover 80 percent of the target shelters next month and finish the construction in the first quarter of 2015.

The DSWD had turned over 9,567 houses of its 21,382 target in Davao Oriental and 3,311 of 16,138 in Compostella Valley.

At least 326 new houses were turned over to Pablo survivors in Monkayo, Compostela Valley over the weekend. 

The new houses will benefit residents of Barangays Olaycon, Rizal, Salvacion, San Isidro, Upper Ulip, San Jose, Tubo-tubo, Pasian, Babag, Baylo, Inambatan, Haguimitan  and Macopa in Monkayo.
