4 dead, 3 hurt in Basilan highway crash

ZAMBOANGA CITY - Four people, including a 14-year-old girl, were killed while three others were injured when a mixer truck overturned along the highway in Maluso, Basilan on Mondaymorning.

Police identified the fatalities as Angelino Alejandro; Eddie Misamis, a village councilor; Marisa Jakaria, 14, a native of Jolo; and Adding Duterte, a resident of Maluso.

Investigators said the victims were on board the mixer truck owned by a construction company that employs them.

Investigations showed that the transit mixer truck (RHD 867) driven by Mohammad Adil Badidi, was speeding along the highway when one of its front tire blew.

The incident happened at around 9 a.m.

The driver survived the accident along with two more employees identified as Annori Tayabas and a certain Awan.
