Suspect in Pangasinan mayor’s slay arrested
MANILA, Philippines - Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested Tuesday night a suspect in the killing of a Pangasinan town mayor and his aide seven years ago.
CIDG chief Director Benjamin Magalong said Salvador Boquiren was arrested in Barangay Lubo, Jala-Jala, Rizal based on a warrant for the rape of an 18-year-old house helper in a resort in Las Piñas City.
Magalong said Boquiren was involved in the killing of San Carlos Mayor Julian Resuello and his security aide Jojo Martinez in April 2007 at the San Carlos City plaza.
He said one of those wounded in the shooting identified Boquiren as one of seven gunmen when shown his photograph.
Magalong said a manhunt for the other suspects is underway.
