ILOILO CITY, Philippines – A Filipino-Japanese restaurant owner shot and wounded a man who allegedly took P1,000 from his establishment in Molo district here Monday night.

Hamza Kayani, 24, owner of Sutukil Restaurant, fled after shooting Joemarie Arcones, 37, a water delivery man.

Arcones was identified through video footage of a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera installed in the restaurant, where he was seen taking the P1,000 that Kayani’s wife placed on top of the cashier’s table.

Kayani’s wife confronted the suspect, who returned the money, and told her workers to keep the incident from her husband, said Senior Inspector Rio Maymay, Molo police chief.

But someone told Kayani, who went to the victim’s workplace and shot him. Arcones was taken to a hospital for treatment of a bullet wound in the leg.
