MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday honored the heroic deeds of a policeman who was wounded in a shootout with armed robbers in Quezon City.
NCRPO chief Director Carmelo Valmoria visited Police Officer 3 Armand Hapa Soliven at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center to personally hand over the "Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting" (PNP Wounded Medal) and financial assistance.
Soliven was shot in his right leg and shoulder while responding to a heist last November 6, resulting to the arrest of two suspected armed robbers-- Delfin Obaña, 47 and Ferdinand Tolentino.
The two men have been in and out of jail due to robbery cases.
Meanwhile, NCRPO's reward-punishment program has been continuously implemented, issuing 26,000 awards and dismissed 180 police since December 2013 up to present.
"Aside from the reward-punishment program to motivate the enthusiasm of every police officer, the NCRPO is also pursuing its commitment to uphold competence, discipline and excellence of every police personnel through series and continuous training and course” Valmoria said.
