TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A police officer has been dismissed from the service after he was found guilty of killing a bar owner and a security guard in La Trinidad, Benguet two months ago.

The order against Police Officer 2 Frenzel Mendoza was handed down last Friday by a police board that conducted the hearing of the case for 90 days at the Camp Dangwa in Baguio City.

Mendoza reportedly shot dead bar owner Cesar Degar, 35, and security guard Casoang Awingan, 28, for trying to pacify him during a quarrel outside the Midtown Bar in La Trinidad in August, said Cordillera police director Chief Superintendent Isagani Neri.

The board also suspended for 45 days Police Officers 3 Cid Acop and Nemer Comising and Police Officer 2 Maferson Santiago, who were with Mendoza during the incident.

A bystander, Raymar Copis, was wounded during the shooting.
