Negros, Davao cities bag ASEAN environment award

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – The cities of San Carlos in Negros Occidental and Davao have been recognized as the Most Environmentally Sustainable Cities in Southeast Asia.

Officials of the two cities received the award at the 15th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Informal Ministerial Meeting on Environment in Laos on Oct. 31, provincial environment and natural resources officer Andres Untal told Bombo Radyo on Tuesday.

San Carlos was recognized for its biomass, ethanol and solar power plants and its solid waste management program.
