Motorcycle thieves kill barangay official
MAGUINDANAO, Philippines - Motorcycle thieves on Tuesday shot dead an incumbent barangay official in Parang town and escaped riding the victim’s Honda motorbike, police said.
Senior Inspector Gani Miro, chief of the Parang municipal police, identified fatality as Wilson Mayola, 43, who died from gunshot wounds sustained in the attack.
Mayola was on his way home from the school where his wife works as an elementary teacher when the suspects, armed with caliber .45 pistols, blocked his path and opened fire, killing him on the spot.
Miro said the suspects hurriedly escaped riding Mayola’s Honda XRM 125 motorcycle.
Miro said investigators are still trying to establish the exact identities of the culprits.
