2 soldiers slain in Albay ambush

CAMARINES NORTE, Philippines – Two Army soldiers were killed in an ambush by suspected New People’s Army (NPA) guerrillas in Daraga town, Albay yesterday morning.
Pfcs. Jerome Sambrona and Dario Marawi were on a motorcycle on their way to an evacuation center in Barangay Anislag when five assailants waylaid them at around 7:45 a.m., said Albay police director Senior Superintendent Marlo Meneses.
Col. Raul Farnacio, chief of the Army’s 901st Infantry Brigade, ordered his men to pursue the rebels.
