LAGUNA, Philippines– A 59-year-old Canadian was found dead after he allegedly committed suicide at his home in Paete town here yesterday morning.
The body of Michael Katc, who has been in the country for almost three years, was discovered by a certain Romy Claridad at around 8:20 a.m.
Police Officer 3 Jomar Aquino said Katc hanged himself using a nylon cord. He said the Canadian had been suffering from a leg injury for almost a year.
Neighbors said a foul odor led them to the house of Katc.
Investigators recovered among the victim’s possessions a Canadian passport.
Aquino said no foul play was involved in Katc’s death.
He said they would verify Katc’s nationality with the Canadian embassy.
